First Night is Tacoma's New Year's Eve celebration. It is an opportunity for friends and families to say farewell to the old year and hello to the new. First Night is a family-friendly, alcohol-free, and most of all, a fabulously FUN celebration.

This year, we celebrated "The Year of the Pirate." Huge crowds gathered in the Theater District and downtown museums for a full day and night of art, music, dancing, theater, and revelry. Festival goers filled nearby restaurants to capacity, and the night was topped off by a fantastic fireworks display.

Thank you to everyone who made 2008 such an outstanding success. We're looking forward to First Night '09!
